Hospitality Management Diploma
with Specializations*

4 Semesters, totaling 16 months
72 credits

VPC's popular Diploma program offers a full range of theory, practice and hands-on industry exposure and experience with the benefit of a complete selection of hospitality courses.

In your first three semesters you will master core hotel management skills in front office, housekeeping, marketing, human resources, accounting and technology.

In your fourth and final semester you can choose from courses in hotel management, resort management, food service management, events and conventions and/or cruise ship management.

Certification at Completion
Graduates will receive the following certification upon the completion of their studies:

  • A Hospitality Management Diploma from Vancouver Premier College of Hotel Management
  • A Hospitality Management Diploma from the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA) (if one AH&LA course is taken as an elective during semester 1, 2 or 3 for the Cruise Ship, Resort and Event & Convention Specialization)
  • A Certificate of Specialization in Rooms Division from the AH&LA
  • Individual Course Certificates from the AH&LA for 11 - 19 courses (depending on courses selected)
  • Workshop Certificates from FoodSafe Level I, and Superhost

Upon successful completion of the Hospitality Management Diploma - Food Service Management Specialization students will also receive (in addition to above):

  • A Food & Beverage Management Diploma from the AH&LA
  • A Certificate of Specialization in Food & Beverage Management from the Ah&LA

Admission Requirements:
All applicants must:

  1. Be a minimum of 17 years of age

  2. Have graduated from high school (or a post-secondary program) with a minimum GPA of 2.5 - Students will be required to submit high school and/or college/university transcripts and diploma. Students who did not complete high school but are 19 years or older may apply for Mature Student Status - Contact an Admissions Executive for more details. We also encourage those applicants with a GPA lower than 2.5 to contact the Registrar's Office for other options.


  3. Take the VPC Written English Test - All students will be required to take this test upon arrival at VPC to determine writing course requirements unless a valid TOEFL TWE, LPI or IELTS writing score is submitted, in which case students will be placed accordingly:

Notes:
- Students who have one of these test scores are still recommended to take the VPC Written English Test to ensure they are put in the appropriate writing class to succeed in their studies. Please contact the Registrar's office regarding other possible tests accepted at VPC.

- College Prep English 098 is offered at VPC of English Language, is a non-credit course, and is not a hotel management course. Students starting in this level will require extra time to complete their program of study.

- College Composition ENGL 109 can count towards a 3-credit elective course at VPC of Hotel Management. Business Communication COMM 120 is a required 3-credit course for the Hospitality Management Diploma at VPC.

  1. Provide evidence of proficiency in English (for applicants whose first language is not English) - Students are required to meet one of the following requirements:
  • Submit a valid official exam mark: TOEFL 520 (CBT 190), TOEIC 700, IELTS 6 - with no band less than 6, or LPI4,
  • Graduate from a B.C. high school with English 12 (or equivalent from an English speaking country),
  • Take VPC's English Proficiency exam before your start date at the College, or 
  • Complete the College Prep Level at Vancouver Premier College of English Language with a B+ average.
