Joseph has been teaching hospitality & business management courses at reputed colleges in Singapore and Vancouver, BC for over 12 years. Highlights of his 15 years of industry experience at a senior executive level include managing food & beverage / hospitality operations for a state owned Tourism Corporation in India, The World Trade & Convention Center - Singapore, Compass Group, Changi Airport - Singapore and the Harvest Project - North Vancouver BC.
Ted F. Dichupa BA, CHS
Ted has been working in the hospitality industry for over 12 years. He began his career in hospitality with the Coast Plaza Suite Hotel where he started as a Front Desk Agent and then was promoted to the Night Manager and eventually the Assistant Front Office Manager. Afterwards, Ted held a variety of management positions at Sandman Airport Hotel, Landmark Hotel and Conference Centre, Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Riverport. Before joining VPC, Ted has taught several hospitality courses in several post-secondary institutions and discovered his passion in teaching. At the moment, Ted is pursuing his Provincial Instructor's Diploma.
Nancy He B.Comm, MBA
Nancy has over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including managing various types of independent restaurants and hotel food and beverage operations. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with distinction (major in Hotel & Food Administration) and an MBA (Hotel & Tourism Management) from the University of Guelph. Nancy also holds a Hospitality Management Diploma from Vancouver Community College. Nancy has worked for world-class hotels in both Vancouver and Toronto including Marriott Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, and Delta Hotels.
Tegvir Brar Singh Hotel & Restaurant Management Diploma, MSc
Teg has a Diploma in Hotel & Restaurant Management from the Hotel Consult Cesar Ritz and an MSc from Johnson & Wales University in the US. Teg’s professional career began as a trainee with the Renaissance Hotel, Geneva, Switzerland. This was followed by a variety of management roles including Assistant Room Service Manager at the Capital Hilton and Hotel Assistant Manager/Front Desk Manager at the Hay-Adams in Washington DC, Front Desk Manager at the Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver, and Front Office Manager and Executive Housekeeper at the Crowne Plaza in Sydney, Australia.
Andrea Terpenkas BA (Visual Arts), B.Ed.
Andrea has great passion for food and beverage education.She promotes student learning through highly engaging and "hands on" classroom sessions which helps develop an appreciation of the content taught and its relevance to industry. Her passion for cooking, foods and beverages began at a very young age growing up in a family where foods, spirits & wines were interwoven into family life. Andrea has an Honors degree in Fine Arts from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor's Degree from Lakehead University. She has over 4 years teaching experience and about 5 years in the hospitality industry specifically working with specialty foods retail.
Anthony Aguirre B.Ed., TESL Certificate
Anthony is a career educator with more than 15 years of teaching experience at the secondary and post secondary levels. He has a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of British Columbia and is certified with TESL Canada. He also has professional teaching certification from the Province of B.C. and is a member in good standing with the B.C. College of Teachers. Anthony has spent many years teaching local and international students helping them to refine their academic and communication skills, and to reach their educational goals.
Monika Gay Certificate in Dramaturgy, BFA, MA
Monika earned her BFA from Concordia University, MA from Cornell University and Certificate in Dramaturgy from Harvard University.Monika has been teaching writing at the freshman/introductory level for over 15 years. She taught in the Freshman Writing Programs at Cornell and Quinnipiac Universities in the United States, and in Vancouver has taught Transition English at Ashton College and here at VPC. She also teaches reading and writing skills at the high school level, particularly focused on SAT, AP and TOEFL preparation. Although she is focused on writing, Monika’s students may see her roots in theatre emerge from time to time as she – theatrically – jumps up and down when insisting on the importance of commas, capital letters, and articles. Born in Toronto, Monika has lived in many parts of the US and also spent two years living in Geneva, and she also speaks German and French.
