Alvin Chong Culinary Diploma, Red Seal Certificate, WSET Certificate

Alvin has over 9 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, having worked at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and run his own catering business, Culinary Titan. Trained at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, Alvin also has an inter-provincial Red Seal Certificate as a Cook, and is certified to teach the industry-standard FoodSafe program. Alvin has an in-depth knowledge of wines (he holds the Wine and Spirit Education and Trust Certificate from the UK) and wine and food pairing. Alvin first taught culinary arts for the Vancouver School Board before coming to VPC. He is passionate about personal growth and helping others achieve their personal goals.

 

John Gerum Marketing Diploma, BA

John has over 15 years experience in the hospitality industry in various management roles in hotels, restaurants, universities, and trade and convention centres across Canada and the United States. He is currently a member of the International Sommelier Guild and has also received an Advanced Wine Certificate from Forte Hotels Inc. John holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario and an Honours Diploma in Marketing from the Humber College School of Business in Toronto. John has worked in management for a number of four and five diamond properties owned by Forte Hotels, Fairmont Hotels (formally CP Hotels and Resorts), Servo Canada, Volume Services America and Sodexho Canada.

 

Susan Harahap Hotel & Restaurant Mgmt Diploma, B.Comm

Susan has more than 12 years experience in the hospitality industry, specializing in all areas of food and beverage. She has a Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Douglas College and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria with a major in Hotel and Restaurant Management. She has managed independently owned restaurants and worked with world-recognized properties including the Fairmont, Marriott and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in various management positions. She was also a leader in the multicultural environment of a hotel-at-sea when she worked with Holland America Cruise Lines.

 

Nancy He B.Comm, MBA

Nancy has over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including managing various types of independent restaurants and hotel food and beverage operations. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with distinction (major in Hotel & Food Administration) and an MBA (Hotel & Tourism Management) from the University of Guelph. Nancy also holds a Hospitality Management Diploma from Vancouver Community College. Nancy has worked for world-class hotels in both Vancouver and Toronto including Marriott Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, and Delta Hotels.

 

Felicia Lui Tourism Marketing Management Diploma
Hospitality Department Manager

Felicia has over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including both the tour and the hotel sectors. She has worked in various department including catering, reservations, operations and marketing and sales for companies such as Ramada, RPB Hotels and Resorts and Harbour Cruises. Felicia has a diploma in Tourism Marketing Management from the BC Institute of Technology and has also completed an Internet Marketing program at the University of BC.

 

Tegvir Brar Singh Hotel & Restaurant Mgmt Diploma, MSc

Teg has a Diploma in Hotel & Restaurant Management from the Hotel Consult Cesar Ritz and an MSc from Johnson & Wales University in the US. Teg’s professional career began as a trainee with the Renaissance Hotel, Geneva, Switzerland. This was followed by a variety of management roles including Assistant Room Service Manager at the Capital Hilton and Hotel Assistant Manager/Front Desk Manager at the Hay-Adams in Washington DC, Front Desk Manager at the Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver, and Front Office Manager and Executive Housekeeper at the Crowne Plaza in Sydney, Australia.

 

Hubert Vrolyk Restaurant Management Diploma, CFBE

Hubert Vrolyk has over 20 years of practical experience in the hospitality industry as food and beverage manager/director, general manager, lounge manager and dining room captain at such renowned institutions as the Arbutus Club, Guppies Restaurant, The Hotel Georgia and the Four Seasons. He has a strong background in hospitality education and has been involved in developing, coordinating and teaching hospitality programs in a variety of public and private educational settings including Kwantlen College, BCIT, The Canadian Institute of Business and Technology, Excel Career College and VPC. He has received his designation as Certified Food and Beverage Executive as well as his BC Provincial Instructor Diploma.
