All the teachers are very kind and teach me what I need to learn. My English has improved a lot since I've been here and I've met many friends.

  VISA (STUDENT AUTHORIZATION) INFORMATION

Students who want to study more than 6 months in our English Language Program must apply for a Student Permit. To apply for a Student Authorization, please contact your local Canadian Embassy or Canadian Consulate for information. If there isn't one in your city or country, please check countries or cities close to you. In general, you will need:

  • A valid passport.
  • A Letter of Acceptance from Vancouver Premier College.
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the length of your stay in Canada.
  • A medical certificate of health may be required depending on your nationality.
Students should contact their local embassy as early as possible. The visa process can take a long time, so students should ask their embassy how long they will have to wait.

  MEDICAL INSURANCE

Canada is known throughout the world for its excellent medical services; however, these services can be expensive. If you do not have coverage, a one night stay in a Canadian hospital can cost about $2,000.00, not including treatment. It is therefore very important to have medical coverage for the period that you will be in Canada.

  3-Month Medical Insurance (TIC)
(Private medical coverage)

  • 3-month coverage (92 days) = $140.00. When you arrive, pay at the College's Front Desk by cash, personal cheque, certified cheque, traveler's cheque, postal order, bank draft or money order.
  • Coverage starts from the first day you pay.
British Columbia Medical Services Plan (B.C.M.S.P.)
(Government medical coverage)
  • To qualify for coverage for the B.C. Medical Services Plan, you must prove you will be in Canada on a student visa for at least 6 months. Those on visitor's visas are not eligible. Please include documentation that proves you are a student and your length of stay in Canada (i.e. a copy of your visa). If you have a student visa for less than 6 months, but will extend it in the future, you must wait for your extension documents before you can apply.
  • There is a 3-month waiting period while your B.C. Medical Services Plan application is being processed. You will then receive a B.C. Care Card in the mail. It is a good idea to buy 3-month private medical insurance (see above) during this time.
  • Application forms are available at the College's Front Desk.
  • Please include a payment of $54.00 for each month of coverage with your application. Pay by certified cheque, postal order, bank draft, or money order (do not use personal cheques).
Students may also apply for private medical insurance in their own countries before they leave for their studies at Vancouver Premier College.
