Our homestay program places international students with Canadian families during their period of study. It gives students the opportunity to experience Canadian culture, meet new friends, and improve English skills. Vancouver Premier College of English Language has teamed up with Canada Vancouver International Homestay Ltd. to place students with the best possible services of homestay. We do our best to provide students with a family that suits their needs and interests. Should any problems arise, homestay coordinators are available to assist in any way that they can.

  • Homestay provides students with:

  • 3 meals a day

  • Use of the family common rooms, laundry facilities and telephone access

  • A great chance to practice speaking English

  • An opportunity to learn about Canadian culture, traditions, and food

  • An “instant” family that will introduce you to friends and tell you the best places to visit in Vancouver

Family Life Homestay provides students with the opportunity to fully experience the North American lifestyle. Students improve their English in a real life setting with a Canadian host family. Vancouver Premier College of Hotel Management and Canada Vancouver International Homestay Ltd. take great care to ensure that students are satisfied with their homestay. We encourage students to take full advantage of their homestay experience and consider themselves a member of the host family.

Meals A typical Canadian breakfast consists of cereal, toast, or eggs, with tea, coffee or juice. Dinner is served around 6:00 p.m. but please be aware that each host family is different so there may be different types of food as well as different meal times. You will be expected to arrive on time for dinner, but can contact your host family at least 1 to 2 hours before if you are going to be late or will not be coming home for dinner. Students will be provided with a lunch box. If any meals are eaten outside of the homestay, this is at the expense of the student.

Entertainment Host families are great sources of information for international students. They can provide an orientation to the city and information on the different sights and facilities available. Families may invite students on activities, but you are usually responsible for your own expenses.

Telephone You will be allowed to use your host family’s telephone for local calls. Be sure not to use the phone too early in the morning or late at night. For long distance calls, calling cards must be used at all times. No long distance calls are to be made on host family’s telephones.

Transportation Vancouver is equipped with an efficient and extensive transit system. Host families can provide students with information on how to use the bus, skytrain, or ferry. Students are expected to pay for their transportation expenses.
