Admissions Requirements
All applicants must:
- Be a minimum of 17 years of age
Have graduated from high school (or a
post-secondary program) with a minimum GPA of 2.5 - Students will be
required to submit high school and/or college/university transcripts and
diploma. Students who did not complete high school but are 19 years or
older may apply for Mature Student Status - contact an Admissions
Executive for more details. We also encourage those
applicants with a GPA lower than 2.5 to contact the Registrar’s Office
for other options.
Take the VPC Written English Test -
All students will be required to take this test upon arrival at VPC to
determine writing course requirements unless a valid TOEFL TWE, LPI or
IELTS writing score is submitted, in which case students will be placed
accordingly:

Notes:
- Students who received a C grade or lower in English 12 may be required
to take the full English Proficiency test.
- Writing
098 is an Academic English program course offered at the College, is a non-credit course, and is not a
hospitality management course. Students starting in this level will
require extra time to complete their program of study.
- College Composition ENGL 109 can count
towards a 3-credit elective course at VPC of Hotel Management.
Managerial Communications COMM 225 is a required 3-credit course for the
Hospitality Management Diploma and the Hospitality Management Diploma
with Specializations at VPC.
- Provide evidence of proficiency in
English (for applicants whose first language is not English):
- Submit a valid official exam mark:
TOEFL 520 (CBT 190 or iBT 68 with no individual score less than 16),
TOEIC 700, IELTS 6 - with no band less than 6, or LPI 4,
- Graduate from a B.C. high school
with a C+ or higher in English 12 (or equivalent from an English
speaking country),
- Take
and
pass VPC’s English Proficiency
exam before your start date at the College, or
Complete the Advanced Level at
Vancouver Premier College of English Language with a B+ average
or get permission from the English Department Manager.
Students applying for a co-op will also need to
pass an evaluation and interview with our Co-op Coordinator at the end of their
first semester. Unsuccessful applicants can take a practicum instead.
