Chef David Beston started cooking at the age of 14 in a small French bistro and never looked back. He finished his apprenticeship in 1999 with Fairmont Hotels, on his way to top restaurants and private clubs. He has cooked with the 5 diamond Herbfarm Restaurant and at the 2 Michelin star Le Moulin de Lourmarin, as well as Whistler favourite Araxi Restaurant. In 2010 he completed his Sommelier accreditations through The International Sommelier Guild and Court of Master Sommeliers. He is partnered with Oceanwise, Seachoice, Green Table Network, Slowfood, the BC Chefs' Association, and The Canadian Culinary Federation. He is currently the Execuitve Chef and Sommelier at the Jericho Tennis Club in Vancouver.
Joseph Dharmaraj MTA, MA (Sociology), Hospitality Management Diploma, CHS
With extensive experience in hospitality and tourism operations and education across Asia and Canada, Joseph has a personal goal to make learning an enjoyable, fulfilling and life-defining experience for learners. As a SEDA (UK) accredited educator, Joseph has been teaching hospitality & business management courses at reputed colleges in Singapore and Vancouver, BC for over 9 years. Highlights of his 15 years of industry experience at a senior executive level include managing food & beverage / hospitality operations for a state owned Tourism Corporation in India, World Trade & Convention Center - Singapore, Compass Group, Changi Airport - Singapore and the Harvest Project - North Vancouver BC.
Ted has been working in the hospitality industry for over 12 years. He began his career in hospitality with the Coast Plaza Suite Hotel where he started as a Front Desk Agent and then was promoted to the Night Manager and eventually the Assistant Front Office Manager. Afterwards, Ted held a variety of management positions at Sandman Airport Hotel, Landmark Hotel and Conference Centre, Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Riverport. Before joining VPC, Ted has taught several hospitality courses in several post-secondary institutions and discovered his passion in teaching. At the moment, Ted is pursuing his Provincial Instructor's Diploma.
Nancy He B.Comm, MBA
Nancy has over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including managing various types of independent restaurants and hotel food and beverage operations. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with distinction (major in Hotel & Food Administration) and an MBA (Hotel & Tourism Management) from the University of Guelph. Nancy also holds a Hospitality Management Diploma from Vancouver Community College. Nancy has worked for world-class hotels in both Vancouver and Toronto including Marriott Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, and Delta Hotels.
Anna-Marie Rautenbach National Higher Diplomas in Consumer Guidance, Food & Nutrition, and Post School Education (SA), MBA
Anna-Marie has over 20 years of experience in the education and hospitality industries. She conducts training in the specialization areas of culinary skills, food and beverage management, hospitality services, and general management and soft skills. She started her career in the education industry in 1989 as a lecturer in the Department of Food Service Management at a university in South Africa. Since then, she has also been a lecturer in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism, and the Head of the Department of Food and Consumer Sciences at Walter Sisulu University of Technology and Science in South Africa; a Food Technology instructor at Emirates International School, and the Academic Manager at Raffles Campus of Emaar Education in Dubai, UAE. Her experience in the hospitality industry includes being appointed as Private Cheft to the South Afican Consul General in New York City, USA in 1995 and subsequently the Catering Manager at a boutique hotel in the Western Cape Province of South Africa; and working as the Customer Service Executive in the Food Division of a retail group in Dubai.
Tegvir Brar Singh Hotel & Restaurant Management Diploma, MSc
Teg has a Diploma in Hotel & Restaurant Management from the Hotel Consult Cesar Ritz and an MSc from Johnson & Wales University in the US. Teg’s professional career began as a trainee with the Renaissance Hotel, Geneva, Switzerland. This was followed by a variety of management roles including Assistant Room Service Manager at the Capital Hilton and Hotel Assistant Manager/Front Desk Manager at the Hay-Adams in Washington DC, Front Desk Manager at the Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver, and Front Office Manager and Executive Housekeeper at the Crowne Plaza in Sydney, Australia.
