Todd Beernink B. Comm., Tourism Management & Entrepreneurship

Todd has worked in the tourism industry for over 15 years, focusing on the marketing of events and adventure tourism for the last 10. He started out as a dishwasher for Whistler Mountain, quickly became a Snowboard Instructor, and eventually moved into resort sales and marketing after earning his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria. He has launched “educational adventure” programs with Parks Canada, managed sales for the Vancouver Convention Centre, and promoted large events across North America. Todd is a Faculty Member of the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute.

Darren Clay Provincial Instructor Diploma, Culinary Arts Certificate, Red Seal Certificate

Darren has over 10 years of culinary experience in major hotels, corporate and independent restaurants both in Vancouver and Singapore, and also runs a community based organic food co-op. He holds a culinary Red Seal Certificate, which he completed at The Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver, as well as the BC Provincial Instructors Diploma. Darren has a deep passion for all things relating to food from growing to cooking and everything in-between; however, his greatest satisfaction derives from passing on his knowledge and experience to others.

With extensive experience in hospitality and tourism operations and education across Asia and Canada, Joseph has a personal goal to make learning an enjoyable, fulfilling and life-defining experience for learners. As a SEDA (UK) accredited educator, Joseph has been teaching hospitality & business management courses at reputed colleges in Singapore and Vancouver, BC for over 9 years. Highlights of his 15 years of industry experience at a senior executive level include managing food & beverage / hospitality operations for a state owned Tourism Corporation in India, World Trade & Convention Center - Singapore, Compass Group, Changi Airport - Singapore and the Harvest Project - North Vancouver BC.

Nancy He B.Comm, MBA

Nancy has over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including managing various types of independent restaurants and hotel food and beverage operations. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with distinction (major in Hotel & Food Administration) and an MBA (Hotel & Tourism Management) from the University of Guelph. Nancy also holds a Hospitality Management Diploma from Vancouver Community College. Nancy has worked for world-class hotels in both Vancouver and Toronto including Marriott Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, and Delta Hotels.

Tegvir Brar Singh Hotel & Restaurant Management Diploma, MSc

Teg has a Diploma in Hotel & Restaurant Management from the Hotel Consult Cesar Ritz and an MSc from Johnson & Wales University in the US. Teg’s professional career began as a trainee with the Renaissance Hotel, Geneva, Switzerland. This was followed by a variety of management roles including Assistant Room Service Manager at the Capital Hilton and Hotel Assistant Manager/Front Desk Manager at the Hay-Adams in Washington DC, Front Desk Manager at the Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver, and Front Office Manager and Executive Housekeeper at the Crowne Plaza in Sydney, Australia.

Hubert Vrolyk Restaurant Management Diploma, CFBE

Hubert Vrolyk has over 20 years of practical experience in the hospitality industry as food and beverage manager, general manager, lounge manager, at such renowned institutions as the Arbutus Club, the Hotel Georgia and the Four Seasons Group of Hotels and Resorts.  He has a strong background in hospitality education and has been involved in developing, coordinating and teaching hospitality programs in a variety of public and private educational settings including Kwantlen College, BCIT, the Canadian Institute of Business and Technology, Excel Career College and VPC. He has received his designation as Certified Food and Beverage Executive as well as his BC Provincial Instructor Diploma.
